We have chosen the main storyline for our two minute film and decided that the classification for our film would be a fifteen. We have researched into past horror films and this is the usual age band that is used most commonly, we also used the BBFC website to ensure that this would be the best age group for our film. No one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work. The site stated that the guideline 15 would fit it there’s strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualized. The target audience that we decided on was around 15-25 this was because we thought it was mostly suitable for young adults/ teenagers. As our film was horror there it was not gender specific and was targeted for both male and females. Films that could be compared to ours are films such as insidious, in both films the child is in a sense possessed and taken over by a natural force. This criteria was important as under fifteens should not be exposed to behaviors’ such as our film, for example when the young girl grows up and she is very creepy looking and has bruises etc., the film also has violence such as the young girl being taken and tied up. This sort of behavior’s should be only available to those over fifteen as it avoids factors such as imitation which have happened in previous films that have been shown to children.
